TORQUEWORKS:

We make dynamometer testing practical and affordable. Our unique drop-in fixture approach lets you do the engine mounting and connections at your facility before the session begins, leaving more time for tuning and development. At run time, we simply lower the engine and fixture into place, secure with precision jig pins, and we're ready to roll. Our advanced reaction torque measurement system reads motor torque at the fixture, not at the brake lever arm. No more Inertia corrections, sweep up or sweep down discussions.  What you see is what your get.  Period.  And our standard Interface, Inc. load cells are dead-weight calibrated before every session and certified accurate to 0.5 percent.

Our proprietary data collection electronics and software accurately records the results of your session tuning changes…..EGT, BSFC, Torque, Lambda…..the works. You leave with your session fully documented….all on hard copy and floppy. (Microsoft EXCEL format)

Simple Fixture concept allows engines to be attached and removed from dynamometer chassis in minimum time. Details which normally consume session time can all be done off-line at the owner's facility.  Our headers provide for individual cylinder EGT measurement as well as an O2 sensor in the collector(s).  Or you can bring your own headers.  


Fixture attaches to dynamometer frame with rod ends and jig pins and pivots on driver's side of engine. Offset pivot design allows 3-point stability.  Precision fixture and mounting provides for repeatable setups and driveshaft coupling accuracy.

Opposite side of fixture rests on precision load cell, which measures engine reaction torque. This is the ONLY METHOD TO ACCURATELY MEASURE THE TORQUE of an engine without introducing a so-called INERTIA FACTOR during sweep tests. Offset pivot was chosen during design to accommodate a substantial preload on the load cell. The preload is electronically zeroed prior to testing and provides the ability to measure negative torque values generated by reverse rotation marine engines with no setup modifications.

Our setup is simple. All you need to bring is your engine with distributor and carburetor (or injectors)…..we'll supply the rest. We have built-in starters, a selection of fuel pumps, ignition boxes, popular header systems with EGT and O2 bungs, electric water pumps and full instrumentation.  Note:  if you have an externally balanced engine, you will need your flywheel.  If you have an internally balanced engine, your flywheel is optional.
